Difflam Mouth Gel is a topical anesthetic used to quickly relieve pain and inflammation in the mouth while helping to prevent infection. It can be used as needed in all patients of at least 6 years of age.
The medication contains two active ingredients:
Together these ingredients quickly provide several benefits:
Relief is felt very quickly after application; while some individuals experience an initial tingling, burning or stinging sensation, pain relief begins within seconds. Effects last 2 to 3 hours; additional doses can be applied as-needed every 1.5 to 3 hours. Food and drink should be avoided for at least 15 minutes after each application.
Difflam Mouth Gel can be used along with other painkillers, anti-inflammatories, and other medications without concern for drug interactions. In fact the gel often enhances effects of other medications designed to alleviate pain and inflammation.
The gel is also very unlikely to cause any serious side effects. A small percentage of individuals may have some minor side effects, including dry mouth and altered taste. These effects are not cause for concern.
Patients with a history of allergic reaction to other NSAIDs, such as ibuprofen, are at greater risk of experiencing an allergic reaction to Difflam Mouth Gel; use with caution until effects are known.
There are a number of other Difflam products which offer differing administration methods, flavors and benefits. Be sure to check out these other mouth and throat pain relief options---all available at very reasonable prices!
