Ungvita is a potent and versatile ointment applied topically to the skin. It can be used in all ages to soothe, heal and hydrate dry, irritated or damaged skin; it also reduces the appearance of many types of blemishes.
The ointment's active ingredient, retinyl palmitate, is a synthetic form of vitamin A. In addition to being found in topical ointments, retinyl palmitate can be consumed and administered by injection. The vitamin is widely used in dietary supplements and sees a number of medical uses.
Ungvita ointment consists of vitamin A mixed in petroleum jelly. Both of these ingredients can provide tremendous benefits to skin:
Petroleum jelly and vitamin A work very well together to improve skin health and appearance; they each enhance each other, producing a very potent ointment. Ungvita is often used to treat:
Ungvita is remarkably effective; most users notice some improvement in skin appearance and texture after just one application. Skin condition continues to improve with regular use.
Unfortunately Ungvita also has its drawbacks; like any product containing petroleum jelly (as many first-aid ointments do), it is thick and greasy and may stain fabrics. Though this can make the ointment a hassle to use at times, is actually beneficial in many ways; the medication stays in place well and prevents dirt or microbes from reaching the skin. The ointment also has a strong odor that most people find unpleasant. Dressings can prevent the ointment from contacting fabrics and minimize odor. Most people who have experienced the benefits of Ungvita find the long-term advantages far outweigh the transient drawbacks.
Use is similar in most cases but does vary to some extent depending on intent; basically a thin layer of ointment should be applied to the problem area, whether that be dry skin, an injury or blemish, or simply to promote youthful, healthy skin. To improve skin appearance or reduce skin conditions like acne, most people apply Ungvita in the evening and leave it on overnight; for acute ailments like wounds or rashes the ointment should be applied regularly until healing is complete.
Note, however, that this is a potent product and should be used with caution at first on the face or other highly-visible areas; if used in too large a quantity or too frequently some people may experience redness or peeling skin. Start with a small amount every few days, increasing to daily use only if no problems develop. If adverse effects are noticed, use the product less frequently. Studies have shown noticeable improvements even if a vitamin A ointment is used only twice per week.
Ungvita should not be used on large wounds or mucous membranes (lips are okay), and should not be ingested. If children or pets consume the ointment seek emergency medical attention.
