AstaZan (astaxanthin) is a super-antioxidant hundreds to thousands of times more potent than the more commonly-known vitamin C, beta-carotene, grape seed and similar antioxidants. Multiple studies have shown it reduces free radicals by up to 50 percent.
Astaxanthin, the primary ingredient in AstaZan, is relatively new to the supplement world. While it has long been identified as a remarkably potent antioxidant, it has historically been difficult and very costly to extract it from its natural sources of salmon, shrimp, crab, lobster and algae. Fortunately an effective method was discovered and the supplement is now widely available.
AstaZan stands out from other antioxidants in a few other ways as well:
In short, it's hard to top AstaZan when looking for an antioxidant supplement.
Live Life to the Fullest with AstaZan
AstaZan can be used in place of more traditional antioxidants to promote overall physical and mental health. Antioxidants are commonly used to enhance physical performance and reduce muscle stiffness and soreness after exertion, to promote youthful-looking, healthy skin, and to reduce other symptoms of aging. Being considerably more potent than the standard vitamin C, vitamin E and so forth, results from AstaZan are noticeably more pronounced.
There was much interest in AstaZan, or astaxanthin, when it was released, and quite a large number of studies were promptly conducted. While more research is certainly warranted, the conclusions of the majority of studies indicate that AstaZan provides benefit in:
It is thought that AstaZan enhances the body's own free radical defenses, in addition to eliminating free radicals itself. This action doubly ensures benefits are felt throughout the entire body.
AstaZan comes in capsules which can be taken once or twice per day, depending on dosage. In the majority of cases, when it is being used to promote overall health or prevent symptoms of aging, 4 mg per day is sufficient. In other circumstances---treating specific conditions, such as arthritis---it is typically taken in higher amounts of 8 mg per day or more.
The maximum recommended daily dose is 19 mg. This is only because higher doses have not been studied, so safety and possible side effects are unknown. Patients without access to a doctor or nutritionist who can provide dosing guidelines for specific conditions can start with small doses of 4 mg per day and increase dosage every few weeks until improvements are noticed, as long as 19 mg per day is not exceeded.
Some AstaZan users take small doses over the long term but occasionally supplement higher doses during times of great physical exertion, excessive UV exposure, or during a flare-up of a condition.
Like many supplements AstaZan is more effective the longer it is taken. Many people do notice improvements within days of starting treatment, but it will likely take several months for the more significant benefits to be felt.
This supplement is unlikely to cause negative interactions with medications, but as it is relatively new there may be unknown instances. Be alert for unusual side effects if taking AstaZan with other treatments.
Effects of AstaZan on unborn or nursing babies are unknown. Parents should discuss potential risks with a trusted doctor before use.
