Movelat Cream (mucopolysaccharide polysulfate, salicylic acid) is a topical solution used to reduce inflammation and pain in an assortment of conditions, from general muscle soreness and stiffness to arthritis or rheumatic pain.
There are many similar products available on the market nowadays; what makes Movelat unique is its two-ingredient formula. The medication contains:
In most muscle- or joint-related disorders Movelat is superior to topical ointments that simply heat or cool the area, as well as many pain tablets. Administered directly at the source, less of the medication is circulating through the system---which increases risk of side effects---while still producing a significant reduction of pain and inflammation.
Movelat is easy to use:
Equally important are things patients should not do:
Some relief should be experienced just moments after application, though it may take 30 minutes to an hour for full benefit to be felt. Multiple daily applications will help keep pain at bay, though this should be done only if necessary. As with any medication, using the smallest effective dose for the shortest period of time is ideal.
Conditions treated include basically any joint or muscle pain, including:
Movelat has its limits; if it doesn't adequately address pain, which it probably won't if the pain is severe, more powerful medications should be considered. Other methods of pain relief, such as cold compresses and elevation, may also be utilized along with Movelat.
Precautions before Use
Individuals who are allergic to aspirin and/or other NSAIDs are likely to experience an allergic reaction to Movelat. As the medication is applied topically, this will likely result only in skin irritation; redness, hives, itching, etc. Washing the medication off should be enough to resolve symptoms. If they persist, or spread to cause rapid heartbeat, difficulty breathing, and so forth, emergency medical attention should be sought.
Many patients who aren't allergic still experience mild skin irritation; this is more likely to occur if used in hot weather or shortly after a hot bath. If skin irritation is severe enough to be disruptive or persists for more than 15 to 30 minutes, wash the medication off and stop using Movelat.
The medication is generally not advisable during pregnancy. Effects on breastfeeding babies are unknown. Effects on patients under 12 years of age are also unknown.
As it's administered topically, Movelat is unlikely to interact with other medications. There is some evidence that excessive use can interfere with anticoagulant medications. Other medicated topical ointments should not be used in the same area as Movelat.
