Medicines have benefits and some have risks. Always read the label and use only as directed. If symptoms persist or you have side effects see your health professional. Brands and generics both contain the same active ingredient(s) and are medically equivalent. Some brands are marketed under different names by the same manufacturing country depending on the country of origin.
Bepanthen is a cream with a wide range of uses, from preventing diaper rash to improving skin appearance. The active ingredient is pro-vitamin B5, an essential nutrient used to restore and maintain skin health, among other functions.
One of the most remarkable features of Bepanthen is its safety. There are no known side effects, drug interactions or dietary interactions. Rarely some individuals may experience allergic reactions to other ingredients in the cream, but this is very unlikely.
The Many Uses of Bepanthen
Bepanthen cream is a very versatile treatment. Though often marketed as a diaper rash treatment, people regularly use the product in other skin-care applications:
In essence, Bepanthen can be used to heal and restore any kind of mildly damaged or irritated skin. It has shown some promise in healing more serious injuries as well---such as diabetic ulcers---but it should not be used as a replacement for medical attention in these cases.
Bepanthen cream is as easy to use as it is safe:
As Bepanthen cream is absorbed into the skin it creates a protective, breathable barrier which inhibits contamination or further irritation. If the application area becomes wet this barrier may be washed off, so the cream should be reapplied.
Bepanthen's soothing effects are usually apparent just moments after application. It may take several days of treatment for a wound, rash or other injury to fully heal.
Warnings & Side Effects
As mentioned above, Bepanthen is remarkably safe. The most significant risk by far---though still very minimal---is that of an allergic reaction. Warning signs of an allergic reaction include swelling of the face, lips, tongue, or throat; difficulty breathing; severe itching, rash or hives; severe confusion or unconsciousness. These symptoms often develop very rapidly and warrant emergency medical attention.
Using other skin products on areas treated with Bepanthen, such as makeup, sunblock, lotions or topical medications is also unlikely to prove harmful, but doing so may reduce the effectiveness of Bepanthen or vice versa. Check with a doctor or pharmacist before mixing Bepanthen with a medicated skin treatment if unsure of consequences.

Bepanthen Scar Treatment has been developed using scientific recommendations for scar management. Bepanthen Scar Treatment helps to prevent new scars from becoming red and raised and to help visibly reduce existing red and raised scars in three ways:
Bepanthen Scar Treatment combines this triple action resulting in smoother, softer and flatter scars.
Bepanthen Scar Treatment is a water in silicone emulsion which is intended to be used on your wound only after it is closed in order to prevent the formation of a red and raised scar (hypertrophic scar).
Scars less than 1 month old. Wound completely closed.
Gently apply a thin layer of the silicon gel over the scar. Apply twice daily. Continue use until scar is one month old. Then follow treatment option for scars older than one month (Below).
Scars older than 1 month. Wound completely closed.
Use the massage roller to gently massage the surface of the scar a few times. Apply a thin layer of the silicon gel over the scar. Apply twice daily.
Use this product for at least 2 months. Continuous use will help achieve the best results.
PRECAUTIONS: Do not use on open wounds and mucosa. Do not use close to eyes. Do not use in case of known allergies to any of the ingredients. Do not use massage roller on freshly closed wounds (which have been closed for less than one month) as the newly formed skin is still too fragile and so there is a risk that the wound reopens. If application causes discomfort or pain discontinue use. If irritation occurs, discontinue use and seek medical advice if necessary. In case of accidental administration into the eyes, on open wounds or mucosa, flush with large amounts of water. For external use only. Keep out of reach and sight of children.
To clean the Massage Roller you can use a wet or dry soft tissue and wipe it thoroughly. Do not rinse the ball directly under water. Do not detach the Massage Roller.
The silicone gel is free from preservatives, colourants and fragrances. Suitable for use on adults and children.
