Dyazide
Dyazide 37.5-25?
The active ingredients in Dyazide are hydrochlorothiazide and triamterene. Dyazide is a diuretic taken orally. The numbers after the name indicate the amount of the two drugs that are in Dyazide. Triamterene content is 37.5 grams, and there are 25 grams of hydrochlorothiazide in each Dyazide pill. Hydrochlorothiazide is a diuretic and antihypertensive ingredient and triamterene prevents the body from absorbing too much salt while keeping potassium levels from getting low.
Dyazide is used primarily to treat edema (retention of fluids) and hypertension. Dyazide may have other uses that are not mentioned in this publication.
Dyazide Prescribing Information:
Your doctor should be aware of all your health problems before prescribing Dyazide. You should not take Dyazide if you have kidney disease, an imbalance of potassium in your body, or urination problems. Do not use Dyazide if you are on other medications for the same purpose. Do not use Dyazide if you have hyperkalemia (high potassium levels), an allergy to sulfa drugs, or a history of kidney stones.
Before you use Dyazide, tell your doctor if you have liver or heart disease, gout, lupus, any pancreas disorder, diabetes, or problems breathing. If you are using a blood pressure medicine or steroids, inform your doctor before taking Dyazide.
Tell your doctor if you are pregnant or plan to become pregnant in the near future. Do not take Dyazide without your doctor's permission if you are nursing a baby. Dyazide can be harmful to an unborn baby.
Avoid alcohol consumption while you are taking Dyazide because it may cause side effects. Avoid a high salt diet because it will cause the body to retain water, making Dyazide less effective. Do not use substitutes for salt or drink low-sodium milk that contains potassium because it can escalate potassium levels too high while taking Dyazide.
Do not become overheated or dehydrated while taking Dyazide. Avoid strenuous exercise in hot weather when you take Dyazide. Follow your physician's advice on the types and amounts of liquid to drink while you are taking Dyazide. Consuming too much liquid can be unsafe, just the same as consuming too little.
