1. Medicine description:
- This medicine contains diphenoxylate hydrochloride and atropine
sulphate and is gluten free.
2. How this medicine helps you - This medicine is an
antidiarrhoeal. It helps to stop diarrhoea but does not treat the
cause of it. It works by decreasing bowel contractions.
3. Before using this medicine: - Do not use if you have a bacterial diarrhoea or diarrhoea caused by taking antibiotics, jaundice or an allergy to atropine.
Other conditions - these may affect the use of this medicine: Liver problems, ulcerative colitis, electrolyte (salt) imbalances, severe dehydration, Down's syndrome, kidney and liver disease.
Other medicines may affect the use of this medicine: - MAOI antidepressants, CNS stimulants
Special precautions:
Food - May taken with or without food
Alcohol - you should limit intake.
Driving/operating machinery - Avoid until you know how this medicine affects you. It may make you feel sleepy or dizzy.
Breast feeding - This medicine passes into the breast milk. Check with your doctor
Avoid becoming dehydrated - drink plenty of water.
This medicine should not be used in children under TWO years of age.
4. How to use your medicine :
Dose: Follow the package label carefully
Swallow the tablets with a full glass of water, while sitting or
standing upright.
Do not take this medicine more often or in larger doses than
recommended.
5. While using youe medicine
Contact your medical doctor if the condition gets worse.
Some possible side effects you MAY experience while taking this
medicine

Drowsiness / dizziness If worrying or unacceptable
Dry mouth, throat, eyes, nose or genital areas - If severe or unacceptable
Fever and severe abdominal pains -Straight away and stop medicine
Stomach upset - If it doesn't go away
Appetite loss - If severe or ongoing
Fast or irregular heartbeat - Straight away
Restlessness, sudden mood changes - If severe
Feeling generally unwell - For investigation promptly
Confusion - For discussion promptly
Headache/tiredness - If severe or ongoing
Pins and needles in the hands/feet - If it keeps happening
Urinary problems - For investigation promptly
Pain/ swelling of the abdomen - Straight away
Hot flushes - If severe or unacceptable
URGENT - Get Medical HELP immediately if:-you notice any of the following signs of severe dehydration: sunken eyes, very dry mouth or tongue, very dry mouth, restlessness or irritability
For overdose or accidental poisoning.
If you develop wheezing, difficulty breathing, itchy shin, swelling of the arms, face, neck or tongue (allergic reaction).
6. General Information: If you have diarrhoea, drink plenty of water or electrolyte replacement solutions. This will rehydrate you and help you feel better more quickly
Report to your doctor if you have a fever associated with the diarrhoea
Children and older people can easily become dehydrated from
diarrhoea or vomiting. This is dangerous. Ensure plenty of fluids
as above
Never take more than the recommended dose of this medicine
When eating foods again, have plain foods like dry toast or mashed
vegetables.
Avoid dairy products and fatty or spicy food.
